Dr. Dean Hu is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained in cornea and refractive surgery and has a particular interest in vision correction surgery, LASIK, and implantable lenses. He is also a leading specialist in cornea transplantation, complex lens implant cases, and pterygium surgery.

Dr. Dean Hu is a board-certified ophthalmologist who’s fellowship trained in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery and has particular interests in vision correction surgery, LASIK, and implantable lenses. He’s also a leading specialist in cornea transplantation, complex lens implant cases, and pterygium surgery.

One of the most prolific LASIK surgeons in Hawaii, Dr. Hu has spent the last 20 years performing LASIK and helping patients correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He’s also a satisfied LASIK patient, after his successful surgery in 1999, so he understands the surgery from both sides of the laser.

Dr. Hu has been with Kaiser Permanente since 1999 and has been the Chief of Ophthalmology since 2007. He’s also the Medical Director of the Honolulu Medical Office’s Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Hu has called Hawaii home since 1999. When not working, he enjoys running, swimming, coaching youth sports, and spending time with his wife and two young sons.
